The Association

The Association

An independent Mauritanian organisation dedicated to sanitation and community health.

Our history

AMAA was created in Nouakchott from a simple observation: sanitation workers carry out an essential job without adequate health protection. Public health and environmental professionals came together around this diagnosis, launched field operations, and then broadened the work to community awareness, vocational training and the protection of water resources.

Our history

Our mission

To promote safe and inclusive sanitation, protect the health of workers and residents, and support public policy with reliable field data. Every intervention is designed with health and municipal authorities, then documented and evaluated.

Our values

Interventions that are prepared, documented and methodically evaluated.

Dignity

Respect for the work and health of sanitation workers.

Transparency

Clear management, accountable to our partners and the public.

Partnership

Acting with institutions, municipalities and communities.

Our organisation

The association is run by volunteers and professionals in health, environment and sanitary engineering, organised into four areas of responsibility.
